Overfishing threatens to destroy the ecosystems of the oceans — and may mean our children never have the pleasure of perfectly fresh, melt-in-your-mouth maguro sashimi.
“Seafood Selector” from the Environmental Defense Fund is a simple guide for choosing ethical, environmentally-sound fish and shellfish. Trout is in (perhaps with hoisin glaze?), Chilean sea bass is out (it’s overrated, anyway).
Also check out the Seafood Guide from the Monterey Bay Aquarium (including a mobile guide for your cell) and, starting next week, a Sushi Guide from the Blue Ocean Institute.
